It was the chilling season began, the sub-zero temperature at the end of 1998, when Indian troops decided to vacate their post on the ridges of Kargil, Mushkoh, Dras, Batalik, Kaksar as per the bilateral agreement between INDIAN AND PAKISTAN in "Shimla accord" of 1972.
But the other side of the Army across the LOC had been planning something nefarious when in early 1998 Gen. Parvez Musharaf of the pakistan Army chief had made a couple of several visits to the northern area of LOC.
When the temperature started rising, the local Indian shepherd had informed the Indian Army about some infiltrators during the month of May, then a patrol party had been launched of troops leading Capt. Saurabh Kalia, unfortunately their patroling unit were captured by Pak soldiers where bodies of troops returned mutilated give ample sign of gross violation of Geneva convention.

Right from the inception of Pakistan in 1947 on the map of the world, it has a very negative attitude towards India. they already being eaten up by the Indian forces in the 1948 1965 1971 war.
It was the year in 1998 when both the country exploded several nuclear bombs to become a full-fledged nuclear-capable Nation developing deterrence against each other.

The Prime Minister of India Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was very much optimistic once again to build a great relationship between India and Pakistan, hence he had initiated brotherhood and reach out to Lahore with the bus.

Meanwhile, the general of the Pakistan army was planning operation Badr to alter the line of control.
When the post of the Indian armed forces was vacated because of the chilling cold as per the "Simla Accord" the regular soldiers of the Pakistan army and Paramilitary had entered inside Indian territory placed multiple bunkers, anti-aircraft missile, multiple machine gun, Stinger missiles.
Now by the time India got the mutilated body of captain Saurabh Kalia and their Troops, it was no longer a secret from the Indian Administration about the Nefarious infiltration.
The positions acquired by the Pakistan soldiers at the height of various peaks were so strategically important for India, as on the ridges of tololing where the Pakistani soldiers were sitting can directly fire artillery shellings on the strategically important National Highway 1 Alpha connecting Srinagar to Leh.

Hence shelling on the national highway handicapped the movement of the military convoys and civilian vehicles and cut the Ladakh region and Siachen Glacier with rest of India.
Had this situation been gone for more while, the troops in on the icy heights of Siachen wouldn't have been able to sustain for long because of a lack of ordnance supply.

Now the time has come for taking offensive action.
Indian Army launches operation "Vijay" and moves ground soldiers to the Kargil sector, Indian Air Force launches Operation "Safed Sagar" for reconnaissance and offensive operations to eliminate their bunkers and support ground troops while the Indian Navy launches operation "Talwar" And Move destroyers and frigates from East coast to the Arabian Sea to block the port of Karachi and fractured their ports just like in 1971 war.
Now the offensive operations by the Indian Army and  IAF and with the Sacrifice Of 527 soldiers and multiple wounded soldiers were able to get back all the positions of the Indian side along the line of control that is Tiger Hill, point 5140,  point 4875, Kalubar top, Drass Etc.
Captain Vikram Batra,  Captain Manoj Pandey, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav had conferred the highest gallantry award the Paramvir Chakra, While several attended numerous gallantry awards like Mahavir Chakra, Vir Chakra which shows the humongous amount of courage, Valour, sacrifices and the huge amount of sense of responsibility towards the nation.

Because of the huge professionalism and valor of our Armed Forces and the huge amount of casualties to the Pakistani soldiers and under the huge tremendous International pressure Pakistan administration Succumb once again and get back from the Indian Territory and the Tricolour of India starts flattering at the icy heights.

At that Juncture of war, when the Global powers were supporting Pakistan, India was in great need of a huge amount of modern ammunition , Israel supported India instead of pressure from the US, and they provided India Air Force with several laser-guided missiles to be launched by Mirage 2000 which played a crucial role to destroy the Pakistani post.

At that time, India was not having a technological edge, we didn't have any GPS satellites which could provide live positions of Pakistani bunkers and exact shelling could have change the course of the war, Although India did ask for help from US space agency but was denied.
Now, India has grown in its space technology so swiftly that recently we had sent 2 satellites especially for Indian Navy and IAF named GSAT 7 and GSAT 7A respectively , India had recently become the words 5th highest Military budget country , India is being worlds highest Military equipment buyers , India developed worlds fastest Supersonic Cruise Missile "BRAHMOS" with speed of 2.5 Mach Ramjet engine and have been underway to make it Hypersonic. India had also become a member of the "Missile Technology Control Regime" which would give India an additional edge to develop her future Missiles and UAVs technologies.

Now, India had grown so steeply after the Kargil war in terms of Diplomatically, Financially, Strategically, Militarily, Technologically hence in the word of Dr. Kalam, The world will give respect to only "Power" and it seems so true in the context of India in 2nd decade of 21th century !!!
